The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), as the Secretariat to the National Coordination Committee on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Brunei Darussalam, held the Opening Ceremony of the “Every Policy Is Connected” (EPiC) Workshop today at the Banquet Hall, Prime Minister’s Office.
The event was officiated by Yang Mulia Pengiran Hajah Siti Nirmala binti Pengiran Haji Mohammad, Permanent Secretary (Wawasan), Prime Minister’s Office, and Chair of the National SDGs Coordination Committee.
In her opening remarks, she expressed deep appreciation to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) for its continued support in advancing Brunei Darussalam’s sustainable development agenda. She underscored the importance of strengthening cross-sectoral collaboration and adopting a systems-thinking approach in formulating integrated and effective policies to ensure a comprehensive pathway towards national sustainable development.
She also introduced the EPiC initiative as a strategic approach in the development of Brunei Darussalam’s Sustainability Priorities Action Plan. In her speech, she reiterated the four national transformation commitments announced during the 2023 SDG Summit, while highlighting the key role of the national SDGs governance structure in supporting the implementation of these commitments.
The three-day workshop, organised in collaboration with UNESCAP, aims to align policies with data needs and gaps; identify strategic national priorities; formulate an actionable sustainability plan; and promote inclusive, data-driven, and future-oriented solutions.
The EPiC Workshop is expected to further strengthen national efforts to achieve the SDGs and realise Brunei Wawasan 2035, for the well-being of both current and future generations.
